Sylvain Tesson hosted a column entitled “Un été avec Homère” on France Inter during the summer of 2017. This series of radio chronicles was broadcast daily and subsequently published in book form, enabling a wider audience to discover or rediscover Homeric tales through the author's contemporary eyes.
Sylvain Tesson invites us on a literary and philosophical exploration of the Homeric tales. He invites us to rediscover Homer's works, notably the Iliad and the Odyssey, by placing them in a modern context. He explores how these ancient tales still resonate today. He takes us on a journey that is both literary and geographical, revisiting the mythical places described by Homer. This journey allows us to better understand the impact of these tales on our culture and our collective imagination.
Sylvain Tesson uses the Homeric epics as a starting point for philosophical reflections on the human condition, war, exile and the quest for self. The book is written in an accessible and engaging style, blending personal anecdotes, literary analysis and poetic descriptions of Mediterranean landscapes.
