Stéphane Narvaez Founder of ECCO, Certified skipper and cruising sailing instructor, FFV recreational sailing coach
I took my first sailing trips on dinghies at a FFV sailing school in the 70s and 80s.
I then learned by embarking on racing-cruising sailboats in FFV circuit regattas (Surprise, First-Class8, J24, Selection37, JOD35,...).
In 1999-2000, I obtained a Sailing Pleasure Craft Skipper's Certificate (BPPV - Today captain200).
A professional merchant marine officer in the Atlantic, I sail on my first 36-foot cruising sailboat based in Les Sables d'Olonne. I organize cruises. I was present at the start and finish of the 2000 Vendée Globe.
In 2012, I became the sixth sailor to have completed a solo, non-stop, round-the-world sailing voyage against the prevailing winds. I sailed over 29,000 miles on OÏKOS.
2024, after training at the CREPS in Montpellier and as a cruise instructor at Glénans in Marseillan, with a "BPJEPS Sailing Cruise" in hand, I became an FFV cruise instructor, "FFV PLEASURE SAILING COACH".
2026 - FFV CQP IV instructor trainer.
With over 100,000 miles of experience sailing, at sea, in coastal and offshore navigation, and with perfect knowledge of the Mediterranean coastline, I am happy to be able to teach cruising sailing and share the pleasure of sailing... With a motto: "Safety first so that the pleasure is complete"
